Some circumstances call for the removal of a tooth or teeth from your mouth, and, while it will be a last resort, it’s the route we recommend when your oral and overall health will benefit from extraction. Excessive decay, cracks, breakage, severe infection, overcrowding, and impacted wisdom teeth are all reasons extraction may be the safest bet for your oral wellness. If you do need an extraction, there’s a good chance it can be performed from the comfort of your dental home at Bear Creek Family Dental.
We recommend extracting impacted wisdom teeth. Impaction refers to the improper eruption of your third molars. They may grow sideways and partially emerge from the gums, or they may stay trapped underneath your bone and gums. Partial eruption of wisdom teeth can allow bacteria to grow and fester, causing recurring swelling, pain, and potential illness.
Impacted wisdom teeth may also apply pressure to neighboring molars, creating a domino effect for your bite and TMJ. The earlier you schedule extraction, the smoother the procedure tends to go.
